It goes without saying that a great fishing experience in these waters isn’t possible without exceptional guides.

At Walters Cove Resort, our guides are expert fishermen with a wealth of local knowledge and experience. Their insight into these waters comes from family traditions that have been passed down for millennia.

Awesome Walters Cove Resort Guides

This knowledge extends to bottom fishing for halibut, lingcod and rockfish, as well as trolling for salmon. Tuna fishing, a newly emerging sport fishery in Canada is only accessible to sports fishermen from a few places on the coast of British Columbia, one of which is Kyuquot Sound. Schools of tuna tend to follow the warm water currents that come up from California and settle into Kyuquot Canyon, about 25 miles offshore from Walters Cove. Tuna usually appear in our area in late August and early September, but sometimes they can appear as early as July.

Along with benefitting from our guides’ fishing expertise, you’ll also get to hear entertaining stories and tap into their culture, customs and the vibrant history of the Ka:’yu:’k’t’h’/ Che:k’tles7et’h Territory. All guides have required certifications including MED-A3, SVOP, Marine Radio Operators and Marine Advanced First Aid.

Fish Processing at Walters Cove Resort

Fish Processing
We understand that one of the most meaningful aspects of the trip is the fish itself. With that in mind, your catch will be professionally processed including cleaning,  portioning, vacuum packing, flash freezing and boxing. We’re proud to say that we’re the only resort in Walters Cove that provides this service on site.
